99 times out of 100 I am incapable of estimating the necessary complexity for a problem until after I put a lot of work in.
Maybe I’m just not good at this. But I really wish the default reaction after looking at unfamiliar code for 5 minutes was “wow I have a lot to learn” and not “wow this is way too complex” with the strong implication of “and I would make something much better”.
